WHAT IS Flip Or FLop?
Flip or flop is a DJ battle by Vekked, where you only have 24 Hours to make, record and submit a routine based on a theme for each week, with supplied material with no editing allowed. If your routine is dope, you’ll get a flip, if you need to work more, you’ll get a flop. We also have Producer battle, where producers get points if their tools got used by djs.
There’s no registration, just join our discord, submit a routine and you are in.

– The battle will start every Saturday at 3 P.M. EST during a season.
– The judgment will be held on Twitch at Sunday 5 P.M. EST (after the deadline)
– Files will be uploaded on discord in #flip-or-flop-dj-battle at 3 P.M. EST
– Upload your video to vekked@vekked.com when the battle is happening
DJ BATTLE RULES
Flip or Flop is a DJ Battle
is a battle where you have 24 hours to create a
routine, record a video, and submit using provided beats and samples.
– DJ tools and beats are posted at 3PM EST every Saturday in
#fliporflop-dj-battle
– The deadline to submit is 5PM EST using the google form
link in #fliporflop-dj-battle (new link on every battle day)
– This is a turntablism battle, so other techniques such as
finger drumming or toneplay are allowed, BUT they must incorporate the turntables somehow to get points!
Rules :
Direct audio that is in sync with video. Audio or video issues are automatic FLOP
You can only use 1 scratch tool and 1 beat.
Absolutely NO edits in Ableton/any DAW. You must flip the
material you’re given.
Video time limit is minimum 45 seconds to a max of 60 sec-
onds (unless otherwise stated).
No additional samples or beats that aren’t provided.
DJ Battle Scoring :
The top 3 DJs get points every week as follows:
– 3 points for 1st
– 2 points for 2nd
– 1 point for 3rd
– The top 8 DJs in TOTAL points after the 8-weeks regular
season make playoffs.
– Top 4 DJs from the semi-finals make it to the final.
Winner-take-all for the final.
PRODUCER BATTLE RULES
Flip or Flop Producer Battle
– Producers submit scratch tools and beats every week.
The deadline is 12 midnight EST every Friday using the google
form link in #fliporflop-producer-battle
Rules:
Refer to #fof-schedule for the weekly categories and any special themed rules.
Submission requirements and time limits for each category:
Scratch battle and anything goes:
– 1 scratch tool (15 seconds max)
– 1 beat (60 seconds max)
Beat juggle battle:
– 1 beat juggle tool (60 seconds max)
Drum scratch battle:
– 1 drum scratch tool (15 seconds max)
Producers Scoring
– This is a turntablism-producer battle. Your goal is to make
material that is useful for the DJs, and you get points based
on how well the DJs do who use your stuff – there is no
formal judging. Points are as follows.
4 points per file for 1st
3 points per file for 2nd
2 point per file for 3rd
1 additional point per file for every DJ that flips but
doesn’t place
Examples:
1st place DJ uses both your beat and scratch tool, you get:
8 points total
4 points for them using your scratch tool.
4 points for them using your beat.•
2nd place DJ ONLY use your scratch tool:
3 points for using your scratch tool
– A DJ uses both your scratch sentence and beat and flips,
but does not place:
2 points total:
– 1 point for the flip using your scratch sentence
– 1 point for the flip using your beat
